Automated test scripts increase by 400%, improving overall test coverage and technician productivity
Austin, TX, USA (11 August 2009) — The HART® Communication Foundation (www.hartcomm.org) announces a major upgrade to the Wireless Test System, Wi-HTEST Version 1.2. The system upgrade increases the number of available automated test scripts by 400% improving overall test coverage and technician productivity while testing WirelessHART™ devices.
The Wireless Test System is designed to work with the HART Test System and the Wi-Analys Network Analyzer to verify conformance of WirelessHART devices. The system upgrade includes new and updated automation scripts, updated menus, and updated WiHTEST that adds support for virtual devices and improves performance, etc.
“The Wireless Test System is critical to the development and compliance testing of WirelessHART devices,” says Ed Ladd, HART Communication Foundation Director of Technology Programs. “Manufacturers must use this system to test a WirelessHART device prior to submitting the device for Foundation registration.”
The Wireless Test System is an integral part of the HART Device Registration Program in which the Foundation independently validates that the device and data submitted meets the Protocol requirements. The registration program helps to ensure the interoperability of devices produced to the HART standard regardless of the device manufacturer.
Testing and registration of a device ensures the quality of the HART device and the interoperability of all devices that claim HART compliance. Devices that successfully pass the registration requirements are allowed to carry the “HART Registered” mark.
The HART Communication Protocol is the leading communication technology for intelligent process measurement and control field devices and systems with more than 30 million devices installed worldwide.
